WHAT IS FIRST AID?

U

First aid is one of those things you need to know - but never want to use.  First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person.  First aid does not take the place of proper medical treatment.  Rather, it furnishes temporary assistance until the victim receives competent medical care, if needed, or until the chance for recovery without medical care is assured.  Most injuries and illnesses do not require medical care.

Properly applied, first aid may mean the difference between life and death, between a rapid recovery and long hospitalization, or between temporary disability and permanent injury.

 Heartsaver First Aid

The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until the emergency medical services personnel arrive.

 Audience

Persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community.  Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer’s efforts to comply with OSHA regulations, ie, corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel, lifeguards, home childcare providers, foster/adoptive parents and other individuals who want or need first aid training

An American Heart Course Completion will be given after required test.
